Education
Throughout the 28-year history of BATTA Environmental Associates, our largest workload has undoubtedly come from public / private school districts, charter schools, and institutions of higher education. BATTA has provided service to all of the 19 school districts in the State of Delaware. Recently we have been awarded environmental contracts with the School District of Philadelphia and various districts in Maryland. We pride ourselves on the great detail that goes into dealing with environmental issues in schools. Considering the nature of the facilities' occupants, our accurate and careful work inside any school is paramount.
Education Authorities face a wide array of environmental compliance challenges. BATTA has always been ready and able to step in and work for the Owner in reducing their liability and mitigating environmental risks. When schools are ready to undergo partial or systemic renovations, BATTA is there to manage all hazardous materials issues that impact construction. Asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and other materials are just a sampling of items that we sample, test, design remediation specifications for, and manage the abatement of. Underground storage tanks, transformers, boilers, etc are facility components that owners have called on us for technical guidance.
Schools also face daily compliance challenges. The regulations imposed by EPA-AHERA mandate that all primary and secondary schools complete EPA Asbestos Management Plans and conduct 3-year Re-Inspection projects to maintain proper records and inventory of asbestos-containing building materials. BATTA has been performing these services since the inception of the regulations and continues to do so for over 600 buildings throughout the region. Our work methods, protocols, and deliverables have received praise from EPA Region III inspectors who inspect schools that we service.
Emergency response is also a key part of the services we provide. We provide 24/7/365 to any school building and are equipped and able to respond to environmental issues that may pose a risk to building occupants.
