Some people may wonder whether the Federal Stimulus dollars being spent as part of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) projects is achieving its original objectives. While that debate is ongoing and future Stimulus dollars are being conisdered, there is no debate that almost all ARRA projects have some degree of Environmental-Health-Safety (EHS) requirements. And BATTA is very proud to be an integral part of many of the East Coast Region’s ARRA projects. We are providing a comprehensive range of EHS services to many “Shovel Ready” projects. These services include Health/Safety Plan Development, Environmental Protection Plan Development, on-site Environmental Monitoring/Testing before and during construction, and Management Consulting on Hazardous Waste and Disposals. Our in-house accredited lab is providing environmental analytical services to many of these projects.
Many of our projects are in the Transportation Sector and clients include Amtrak, SEPTA, State DOTs, and Highway Administration. As these and future projects continue to receive funding, BATTA is ready to put our resources and knowledge to work. Contact us to see how we can serve the Environmental-Health-Safety needs of your project.

The use of organic solvents and other chemicals/compounds in manufacturing and R&D sectors continues to prompt the requirement for Industrial Hygiene Exposure Assessments. BATTA is proud to partner with many of the region’s well-known manufacturing companies in the completion of Exposure Assessments and technical guidance for improved workplace safety and health. Our staff collects data and interprets/evaluates findings against the applicable OSHA and National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) standards for permissible exposure limits (PELs) and Threshold Limit Values (TLVs).
Employee exposure monitoring is performed in accordance with NIOSH and OSHA recommended guidelines. Sampling is accomplished using various sampling apparatuses and sampling media, such as low flow adapters, cyclone respirable dust samplers, solid sorbent tubes, direct reading colorimetric tubes, and passive diffusion samplers. The proper apparatus and media is chosen based on recommended best Industrial Hygiene practices and the task that is to be monitored.
BATTA has on hand all of the required sampling devices (high and low volume air pumps), sample media, field forms, records, PPE, etc. to safely and accurately complete the exposure assessments. Our technical staff understands that proper data collection and evaluation is only half of the task. An exposure assessment cannot be fully completed unless there are meaningful and practical recommendations from Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH) to improve conditions that will lead to better protection of employee health. BATTA takes this role very seriously and provides professional Industrial Hygiene recommendations as part of each deliverable.
